Global Press is looking for a Human Migration editor with a bold vision to transform migration journalism and the way the world understands why and how people move.

We’re reposting this job because we are waiting for an audacious, imaginative, entrepreneurial editor who understands the fullness of this opportunity.

You might be a migration policy expert or a seasoned international journalist. What’s non-negotiable is that you have a specific and revelatory vision for how to transform migration journalism in the unique context that Global Press offers.

We operate independent news bureaus in some of the world’s least-covered places. Our bureaus are home to brilliant, professional, local journalists with unprecedented access to refugee camps, IDP populations, moving caravans and migrant workers. We pride ourselves on access and accuracy, and that’s why we’re creating a long-term storytelling priority around human migration.

Global Press Journal reporters cover migration hot spots like Democratic Republic of Congo, Mexico, Haiti and Nepal. In 2018, more than 93 percent of their interviews were done in person. Our team of nearly 100 reporters speak dozens of languages. The Human Migration editor will work closely with our growing team of bad-ass reporters to craft all-new migration narratives from every corner of the world. (On average, we open six new independent news bureaus every year.)

At Global Press, we practice journalism according to our four core values: dignity, diversity, transparency and excellence. Within these values, innovation knows no bounds.

You have:

• A professional track record of revelatory work in human migration trends

• Passion to use journalism as a tool to advance global understanding on this topic

• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including expert line editing, grammar, syntax and a keen interest in learning Global Press news value and Style

• Track record of leading collaborative teams

• The dedication to make every story dignified and precise
