In addition to our signature reporter-in-residence opportunity, we’re adding new topical reporting fellowships for local women journalists in the world’s most challenging places.
Global Press reporting fellows work in a global team to produce revelatory journalism and photojournalism, while also taking part in a robust learning program designed to ensure fellows are powerful contributors to the most pressing global conversations.
For the last 18 years, our investigative and explanatory journalism has served an audience of local and international changemakers. Achieving this requires that Global Press journalists work and live in some of the world's most challenging places.
Our new, two-year topical reporting fellowships for women journalists offer valuable experience reporting for Global Press through cross-border collaborations, revelatory investigations and ambitious explanatory news projects. Fellows also participate in learning programming that includes advanced skills training, a speaker series, mentorship, professional development and so much more.

In response to the rise of authoritarianism, threats to press freedom and a deep need to better understand the interconnectedness of the world, Global Press is thrilled to announce its inaugural program, the Shifting Democracies fellowship. which will be one of several that will operate within our Civil Liberties theme.
Future fellowships launching in 2025 will be focused on thematic coverage of global health and the environment.
Together, these incredible women journalists will produce investigative and exploratory coverage of shifting democracies in the key global locations.

Global Press offers journalism training and reporting opportunities to local women journalists.
Be from and currently live full time in one of the focus countries listed above
Have at least 5 years of prior newsroom, reporting or related experience
Have English language proficiency
Be able to commit to a full-time contract opportunity
Be passionate about local sourcing, precise writing and global collaboration
Be enthusiastic about learning new reporting and writing skills
Have an understanding of civil liberties and how to cover related topics
Have a passion for learning photojournalism and transforming the visual representation of your community
Be willing to build media partnerships with outlets in your home country to ensure stories are widely read locally
Global Press has expanded its operating model to create new training and reporting opportunities for women reporters from even more places.
Global Press runs two-year, full-time fellowships for local women journalists in key global locations. During the fellowship, reporters earn strong wages, have continuous learning opportunities and publish thematic stories within a specialized team.
Global Press will continue to offer its signature reporter-in-residence program to local women journalists who cover specific issues or geographies. These senior journalists produce original series and investigations, while also supporting reporting fellows.
Global Press offers certificate programs that train large cohorts of women journalists across the world in topic-specific coverage techniques. Program graduates can contribute to the Global Press Reporting Network while also elevating coverage of the key issue in their own newsrooms.
